An interview with five young artists – Alecia Neo, Ezzam Rahman, Pooja Nansi, Marc Nair and Liu Xiaoyi – who will receive the National Arts Council’s Young Artist Award this year. Their works cut across a variety of art forms such as poetry, theatre, performance art, installation and even art that uses human relationships as its basis.

Multidisciplinary artist Ezzam Rahman uses dead skin from the soles of his feet to create his unconventional artworks. His works include sculptures of plants and animals in his Here’s Who I Am, I Am What You See collection commissioned by the Singapore Art Museum. Ezzam trained as a sculptor at Lasalle College of the Arts. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Fine Arts from University of Huddersfield, and is currently reading a Masters of Arts in Fine Arts with Goldsmiths, University of London, UK. He is also teaching part-time at Lasalle and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
